Media Relations

WRAL story.PNG

When COVID-19 forced the non-profit Housing for New Hope to re-imagine one of its major fundraisers as a virtual event, Mindy Hamlin drove donations through strategic media outreach.

Here, one of the region's leading news channels interviews a client who, through her story, illustrates how the organization helps those experiencing homelessness find housing. The story increased activity on the site and drove donations weeks after the event.

At Raleigh-Durham International Airport, Mindy Hamlin executed a multi-year communications program to promote the airport's $1B terminal development project.

When the project was completed, Mindy wrote the script and led the art direction for a video that communicated the driving message behind the campaign: the project was reflective of and for the region.

Branding & Social Media

For more than 30 years, the non-profit Housing for New Hope has been finding housing for those in Durham experiencing homelessness. However, not many people knew about the organization. To grow the organization's visibility,  Mindy created a branding and messaging program that is used across channels.

This program included an Instagram campaign, designed by Mindy, highlighting move-ins each week.

Preparing for Crisis

When the Saint Lucia Air and Ports Authority wanted to train its executive team to act as Port spokesmen, it turned to Hamlin Communications.

Mindy led a hands-on training that focused on the development of persuasive key messages and talking points. The training included a crisis news conference on camera that provided all participants the chance to practice and hone their interview skills.

Master Plan Blog.JPG

When Raleigh-Durham International Airport launched its master plan program, Vision2040,  a local cycling group began a grassroots campaign against the airport and the plan.

While RDU was given the opportunity to present its side in media reports about the cyclists' campaign, as the director of communications Mindy decided the airport needed a more thorough response. The result is the following blog, which Mindy wrote, to explain fully the airport's position
